Our latest Forward Thinker is Brian Leman, Software Developer at Forward Solutions.
Brian joined the team in March 2018, having previously worked as a software developer at Tribal, he moved to Forward Solutions as he was attracted by our culture, as well as wanting to apply his skillset to a new sector.
He first got into software development during his A-Levels, studying technical subjects such as Computing and Physics before going on to study Computer Games Software Development at Sheffield Hallam University.
Learning valuable transferable skills, and after some work experience at Oilband Systems, Brian felt he could have a successful career as a Software Developer and started work in Sheffield, before relocating to Nottingham.
One of Brian’s main roles is to work on developing Forward Solution’s new and intuitive User Interface, which has received between £ ¾ of a million in development, Forward’s most significant investment to date.
Brian works on many different aspects of the Forward Office Suite, including the new customs CDS suite and one of our integration offerings, Forward Office Connect.
Brian added: “There’s never a day that’s the same; I spend a lot of my time updating our current software, specifically on Forward Office Connect, making sure that everything is running smoothly to meet customer needs.
“I’ve been at Forward Solutions for over four years now and the nurturing, caring nature of the team has helped me to settle into my role. My skills have developed exponentially thanks to the support and wisdom that each team member shares.
“What I like about Forward Solutions is that whilst utilising my existing skills, every day I’m still learning something new, whether that be programming using different scripts such as Javascript or HTML or working on the web services.”
Richard Litchfield, Managing Director at Forward Solutions, added:
“Brian is a valued member of the Forward Solutions team, he’s been working here for almost five years now and knows the software inside and out. We’re really proud of how he’s developed and progressed in his time with us.”
Outside of work, Brian likes to work on developing indie computer games for mobile devices, as well as learning how to 3D scan objects.
